About Sophie
The unintended expatriate blogger behind Cozy Stone Path

Hi, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in our long-term plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job chance and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Cozy Stone Path
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow sightseeing content. What was lacking was a frank, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Netherlands.
What this site represents (and what it does not)
This site stands for:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and everyday real-life details
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A paid-review platform
- A standard travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
